\nThe postmodern “Vod\u00f6l” armchair, which can be described as deconstructivist in the broadest sense, was based on the “Grand Confort” armchair designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928.
\nThe unusual armchair was created as part of a competition launched by Vitra in 1987, which resulted in a series of limited-edition designs.
\nIn addition to the “Vod\u00f6l”, other interesting objects of postmodern design resulted.
\nToday, the designs by Shiro Kuramata and Ron Arad can be described as icons.
\nThe armchair was produced by Vitra between 1989 and 1993 in Birsfelden, Switzerland, in a very limited edition of two times ten pieces.
\nThe armchair is in the collection of Vitra and is exhibited there in the Schaudepot.<\/p>\n
