“The glass objects are placed in the annealing oven at 550 degrees and cooled over a period of up to 14 days to relieve the stresses within the glass. Only then can it be determined whether the casting was successful. All traces of the manufacturing process—such as inclusions, matte areas, bubbles, and streaks—are an authentic expression of traditional craftsmanship. The free-form glass casting ensures an appealing look and feel.”
 
In general, it can be said that all of Lothar Klute’s objects are one-of-a-kind. While most pieces of furniture are available in several versions, unlike a cast bronze object—which always emerges identically from a mold—Lothar Klute’s individual objects differ due to the artisanal process of forging and are therefore unique pieces of art.
 
The Lothar Klute studio had about five employees, and as a result, only a few pieces were created over the years.
