The glass was produced using a specific melting process, poured into a mold, and worked and signed while still in its liquid state. It was specially tailored to fit the table.
 
By using a specific bronze alloy, the artist Lothar Klute was able to forge the bronze.
 
Lothar Klute’s signature, “K04,” is stamped into the bronze, and the glass bears the signature “Klute”.

“The glass objects are placed in the cooling oven at 550 degrees and allowed to cool over a period of up to 14 days to relieve the internal stresses in the glass. Only then can it be determined whether the casting was successful. All traces of the manufacturing process—such as inclusions, matte areas, bubbles, and streaks—are an authentic expression of traditional craftsmanship. The free-form glass casting ensures an appealing look and feel.”
 
In general, it can be said that all of Lothar Klute’s objects are one-of-a-kind. Although most pieces of furniture come in several variations, unlike a cast bronze object—which is always produced identically from a single mold—Lothar Klute’s individual pieces differ due to the artisanal process of forging and are therefore unique works of art.
 
The Lothar Klute studio had about five employees, and as a result, only a few pieces were produced over the years.
