This “semi-oval-square” combination was available in three different sizes. The one offered here is one of the largest models. It is estimated that about 100 of these models were produced.
These three tables are one-of-a-kind pieces, as evidenced by the fact that the bronze was forged rather than cast. Of course, the glass tops were also designed specifically for this table – each individual top is likewise one-of-a-kind.
By using a specific bronze alloy, the artist Lothar Klute was able to forge the bronze. The glass was produced using a specific melting process and specially adapted to the table.
With a bronze casting process, one could produce as many copies as desired. The forging process, however, makes the table a unique piece – a work of art.
Lothar Klute’s studio employed no more than five people.
The original invoice and certificate for the tables from Atelier Klute are still available.
