Marc Newson’s floor lamp “Guppy” for Idèe was the first floor lamp he designed.
It was created while he was working with Idèe in Tokyo.
The lamp is an ‘objet trouvé’, so to speak, an interpretation of Tokyo’s street lamps.

Super Guppy… an airplane? In any case, the design of the lamp is reminiscent of this airplane. Marc Newson was inspired by Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s “readymade” objects. While wandering through Tokyo’s builder’s stores, he came across “cool stuff”, in his own words. This gave rise to the idea for this lamp.
